Patrícia Gomes is Vice-President at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) for Research and Innovation and Pedagogical Management Affairs. She is responsible for the Quality Assurance policy at IPCA and President of the Council for Quality and Evaluation. She is responsible by the process of certification of graduate and postgraduate courses under the Policy of the National Agency for evaluation and accreditation of HEI. She coordinates the IPCA’ policy and strategy to promote academic success and to reduce students’ dropout. Under this Since 2014 she integrates the IPCA’s Management Board. She is the main coordinator of different strategic projects for the administrative modernization and IoT (SAMA projects).
She is graduated in Public Administration at University of Minho in 2003. In 2007 she obtained the master degree in Accounting and Auditing and in 2011 she concluded the PhD course in Accounting at University of Minho with the maximum classification of Very Good. She is an Associate Professor in the field of Public Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Taxation at the Management School at IPCA where she teaches and supervises students from graduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of accounting, auditing, finance and tax. She is the President of the Scientific Council of the Research Center on Accounting and Taxation (IPCA) evaluated with Very Good by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. She is also member of the Research Center in Political Science at the University of Minho. She is the coordinator of the postgraduate course in the new Public Sector Accounting system based on IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) and the researcher responsible in various projects about public sector accounting (for example the project funded by FEDER - POCI-01-0143-FEDER-106908-that studied the public sector accounting changes toward IPSAS adoption in the Iberian Peninsula). She is the author of several papers published in high quality journals and books in the area of public accounting. She is member of the Scientific committee of international networks (like CIGAR – Comparative International Government Accounting Research) and conferences (like the EIASM International public sector conference) and is reviewer in high quality journals in their research interest fields. She collaborates with the University of Aveiro teaching in the PhD Program of Accounting being responsible by the curricular unit of Advanced Studies in Management Accounting. She is supervisor of PhD thesis in the area of public accounting and management.
